09 65 19 Carpet Tile Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT)

LVT Shall be installed as per the most current version of the manufacturer's recommendations, and guidelines, including for subfloor preparation, installation conditions and methods. All LVT shall be selected from the list of approved Penn State styles.


Overall product requirements:

  1. Minimum 20 mil wear layer
  2. Minimum 20-year commercial warranty (some of the lines included/listed may only have an advertised warranty of 15 years, manufacturer must increase warranty to 20 for Penn State to qualify product)
  3. EPD and/or HPD disclosure on product
  4. Floorscore Certified
  5. Product can be part of a recycling program
  6. Glue-down installation

  1. Tartkett
        1. Techtonic finish only

        2. Contour & ID Latitude Series
          1. If recycling is a requirement, ID Latitude & Color Play are not part of their Restart program.
        3. No Course Emboss: Rough Grain (RG) or Sawn (SW)
        4. Recyclability: product part of ReStart program.
  2. Mannington:
        1.  Quantum Guard Elite finish only

        2.  Lines excluded: No Reservations (floating), Mannington Crown (floating, no HPD), City Park (floating, no HPD), Mixed Monolith (no HPD, no Floorscore), Spacia First, Spacia First 20, Cirro (Cirro is not included due to its lack of warranty [10-year])

        3. Recyclability: can be part of regrind program at Madison, GA via Vision Resources (3.1.3, 3.1.4,3.1.5)

  3. Interface:
        1. Ceramor finish only

        2.  Line excluded: Steady Stride

        3. Recyclability: product part of ReEntry program Recycled into carpet backing. Product contains 39% pre-consumer recycled content.

Note: Carpet tiles only shall be specified and installed; broadloom carpet is not allowed. Any deviation or exception to this must be approved in writing by the Assistant Vice President of the Office of Physical Plant.

    Installation Guidelines

    1. Carpet Tile shall be installed via full adhesive coverage, with the following notes:  sloped/inclined sloped/inclined surfaces  (regardless of slope), raised floors over pressurized plenum, vertical surfaces, stairs, areas subject to heavy rolling loads (all these areas will require the use of  pressure sensitive glue, per the manufacturer’s specifications
    ).  And areas, which upon consultation with the Office of Physical Plant personnel and manufacturer, are determined to be large as related to square yardage (which may require partially glued based installation
    1. ). 
    2. No wet set applications will be permitted to be employed the installation process in the so noted areas.
    3.  All glues must be water based, zero calculated VOC’s, and contain no toxic or hazardous ingredients.
     
    1. Solvent/petroleum based glues are prohibited.

    1. The adhesive must be formulated to facilitate release and re-bonding of carpet tiles while permanently retaining its tack, allowing individual tiles to be lifted out easily and replaced without substantial loss of adhesive properties for the life of the installation.
      
    1. Spare glue and glue containers must be recyclable.
