10 21 13 Interior Toilet Compartments
Toilet Room Partitions:
- All toilet partitions, compartments, screens, etc. shall be ceiling hung as a first option or floor mounted (where applicable during a renovation). All new building construction shall be ceiling hung.
- Urinal partitions shall be wall hung, for both new construction and renovations.
- Toilet partitions shall be plastic laminate (high density polyethylene (HDPE).
- Doors, Panels, and Pilasters shall be constructed from HDPE. HDPE shall be fabricated from polymer resins compounded under high pressure, forming a single component which is mold, mildew, and odor resistant; waterproof, nonabsorbent, and have a self-lubricating surface that is scratch and dent resistant; and resists marks from pens, pencils, markers, and other writing instruments. Doors, Panels, and Pilasters shall be 1" thick with all edges rounded to a radius.
- Panel Color: Shall be approved by University Architect
- Texture: Shall be approved by University Architect
- Doors, Panels, and Pilasters shall be constructed from HDPE. - Door and Panel height shall be a minimum of 55 inches
- Partitions and Screens shall be mounted at 14 inches minimum above finished floor.
Hardware:
- Pilaster Shoes: 3 inches high, type 304, 20 gauge stainless steel with satin finish secured to pilasters with a stainless steel tamper resistant torx head sex bolt.
- Continuous Brackets: Shall be a minimum of 54 inches high, continuous, double ear and/or single ear, heavy-duty 6463-T5 aluminum with clear anodized finish OR type 304, 20 gauge stainless steel with satin finish. Brackets shall be fastened to pilasters with stainless steel tamper resistant torx head screws and fastened to the panels with stainless steel tamper resistant torx head sex bolts.
- Stirrup Brackets: Shall be double ear and/or single ear, heavy-duty 6463-T5 aluminum with clear anodized finish OR type 304, 20 gauge stainless steel with satin finish. Brackets shall be fastened to pilasters with stainless steel tamper resistant torx head screws and fastened to the panels with stainless steel tamper resistant torx head sex bolts.
- Headrails: Shall be heavy-duty extruded 6463-T5 alloy aluminum with clear anodized finish and have an anti-grip design. Fasten to headrail brackets with stainless steel, tamper resistant torx head hex bolt and fasten at the top of the pilaster with stainless steel, tamper resistant torx head screws.
- Headrail Brackets: Shall be 20 gauge stainless steel with satin finish. Secured to wall with stainless steel tamper resistant torx head screws.
- Door Strike/Keeper: Shall be 3 inches, type 304, 20 gauge stainless steel with satin finish with emergency access. Secured to pilasters with stainless steel tamper resistant Torx head sex bolts.
- Latch Mechanism: Universal, emergency, heavy-duty extruded 6463-T5 alloy aluminum. Latch and housing to have a bright dip anodized finish. Slide bolt and button to have a black anodized finish OR heavy-duty type 304 stainless steel. The latch and housing to have a bright finish. The slide bolt and button to have a black anodized finish.
- Hingers:
- Each door shall be supplied with:
- In-swing doors shall be supplied with one door pull.
- Out-swing handicapped doors shall be supplied with two door pulls.
- One 3 inch magnetic doorstop with catch from Everbilt. Attach catch/bumper on door using screws. Attach doorstop to either wall or partition using screws. Doorstop can/will be used as coat hook. Color: Satin Nickel
General Notes:
- Not all hardware listed above will be needed or used, pending on install method.
- Approved manufacturers: Scranton Products, Bradley Corp, or Hadrian.
- Partition materials shall meet or exceed the following requirements:
- Hard to Scratch: Tested to ASTM D2197- first visible scratch at 8 lbs., 8 oz
- Graffiti Removal: Tested to ASTM D6578
- Hard to Dent: Tested to ASTM D2794 up to 192 in-lbs
- Antimicrobial Touch Surface: Hardware touch surfaces shall be manufactured from substrates that are registered with the U.S. EPA to kill specific bacteria tested according to U.S. EPA protocols.
- Fire Resistance: Partition materials shall comply with the following requirements, when tested in accordance with ASTM E 84:
Class A flame spread/smoke developed rating.
- Class B flame spread/smoke developed rating.
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 286: Pass.
International Code Council (ICC): Class B
Warranty:
- Manufacturer guarantees its plastic against breakage, corrosion, and delamination under normal conditions for 25 years from the date of receipt by the customer. If materials are found to be defective during that period for reasons listed above, the materials will be replaced free of charge.
Any exceptions/substitutes must be approved by the University Architect

.01 Toilet Room Accessories
- Provide a wall-mounted shelf rack 24" long similar to Vogel Peterson. Custom unit; hook style (Series 300).
- Mirror and shelf assembly shall be similar to Bobrick B-292 Series stainless steel mirror/shelf combination units.
- Soap dispensers shall be Kimberly Clark "Twinpack". One dispenser shall be installed for each pair of lavatories. Install on center line between lavatories.
- Toilet tissue dispensers shall be Kimberly Clark "JRT" Junior Twin Jumbo Roll Type.
- Sanitary napkin dispensers to be one-product vending, viz: napkin, (Stayfree No. 4 folded) as manufactured by Rochester-Midland Corp., P. O. Box 1515, Rochester, NY 14603, Model 4J, coined for 25 cents. In buildings of intense female physical activity, dispensers are to be two-product vending, viz: napkin and tampons, Model J2, coined for 25 cents, by Rochester-Midland Corp.
- Sanitary napkin disposal units shall be Bennett Model 20L as manufactured by Bennett Manufacturing Co., Inc. 13315 Railroad Street, Alden, NY 14004.
- Paper towel dispensers shall be Kimberly Clark "Lev-R-Matic".
