26 11 00 SUBSTATIONS

 

26 11 16 Secondary Unit Substations

 

.01 General
  1. Indoor unit substations may be required under certain designs.  Where used, these shall be three-phase units equipped with a loadbreak fused switches, with current limiting fuses.  SF6 gas insulated equipment shall not be used unless approved by Engineering Services.

  2. Taps, two at 2-1/2% and each alone and two at 2-1/2% each below normal shall be provided.

  3. Where indoor transformer rooms are used, they must be adequately ventilated with powered ventilators, dampers, and a suitable control system.

 

26 12 16 MEDIUM-VOLTAGE DRY TYPE TRANSFORMERS

 

.01 General

  1. This section is commonly utilized for transformers that will be connected to PSU’s backup power district energy system, comply known as the Emergency and Standby cable system.

  2. All electrical systems shall be suitably grounded, including all non-current carrying metallic components of all equipment and metallic conducts.  Grounding shall be accomplished as required by the National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code.

  3. Dry type transformers shall be floor mounted and shall not be suspended or hung overhead.

  4. PSU OPP Engineering Services Group will provide final transformer sizing.

.02 Guide Specifications

  1. Design Professional shall carefully review and edit the guideline specifications below, adapting them as needed to achieve application-specific, fully developed specifications for each project.

  2. These shall be edited using the process described in the instructions contained at the beginning of the document.  Proposed modifications shall be reviewed with OPP Engineering Services Electrical Group.

  3. Finalized version shall be included in the project contract documents.  Use of other specifications is not acceptable.

26 13 16 MEDIUM-VOLTAGE LOAD INTERRUPTER SWITCH

.01 General
  1. Design professional shall provide proper clearance(s) in front of switch(es), PSU standard is 10 feet of clear working space.

  2. PSU OPP Engineering Services Group will provide final fuse sizing.

  3. All electrical systems shall be suitably grounded, including all non-current carrying metallic components of all equipment and metallic conducts.  Grounding shall be accomplished as required by the National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code.
